About the Event
Philosophy LATE for Adults
These sessions give you an insight into the sorts of things we look at in the classes (if you don't already eavesdrop!) They attract a mixture of parents, general-purpose curious adults and some teachers who are interested in doing philosophy with their own classes. Held fortnightly at the moment. It's a small, welcoming group. One participant described it as being like "mental pilates!"
Tuesday 2nd Feb - The Sincerest Form of Flattery?
Imitation and change are how culture works. But when does being influenced by another artist cross into ripping off their work? What about when one culture (or one company) profits from something developed by another? How much should a person, or a people, own an idea?
Tuesday 16th Feb - Normal
With all the changes brought on by the pandemic, people talk about "the new normal." But we don't normally talk about what's normal because normally the point of normality is it's so normal you don't normally notice it. In this session, we'll explore the connection people often make between "normal" and "good" and when that connection should and shouldn't be made.
Further dates and themes to be announced soon!
