***There will be spoilers in the discussion, so perhaps better not to attend if you are halfway through or thinking of reading it.*** The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster. Full of humour, word-play, absurdity and poking fun at everything from mathematics to police officers. This book is an entertaining fantasy story of a boy as he journeys to such strange places such as Dictionopolis, starves from eating subtraction soup. At the same time, it's a sort of puzzled and puzzling account of the process of education.
