***There will be spoilers in the discussion, so perhaps better not to attend if you are halfway through or thinking of reading it.*** The Letter for the King by Tonke Dragt 4.30 p.m. Thursday 21st March Free to our 9-12s. When sixteen-year-old Tiuri answers a desperate call for help, he finds himself on a perilous mission that could cost him his life. He must deliver a secret letter to the King who lives across the Great Mountains a letter upon which the future of the entire realm depends. It means abandoning his home, breaking all the rules and leaving everything behind even the knighthood that he has dreamed of for so long. He must trust no one. He must keep his true identity secret. Above all, he must never reveal what is in the letter. Jason's comment - In some ways an old-fashioned book that feels like it might have been the prototype for Dungeons & Dragons, in some ways even more old-fashioned as it is told as simply as a fairytale despite being a novel. But somehow really engaging in a way I can't quite put my finger on, so I'm really interested to hear what you think of it. 'A passionate struggle to find justice, truth and chivalry in a world permeated by evil ... captivating' Sunday Times 'Gripping from its opening moment ... doesn't miss a beat ... a thrilling adventure which is full of heart' Julia Eccleshare 'A pulse-pounding epic ... will keep all high-fantasy addicts riveted from the first page' Metro 'Gripping, delightful and true' Guardian Link to buy online while supporting your high street: https://www.hive.co.uk/Product/Tonke-Author-Dragt/The-Letter-for-the-King/15911282
